Well, tomorrow I'm shooting a wedding in a beautiful Catholic Church.
(actually the chapel at an university). The interior is beautiful and the
stained glass is wonderful. Unfortunately, the lighting is way dim.

I just acquired a Mamiya Super-23 (you know this camera from your school
picture days) and it is a tank. I might as well be hauling an RB-67 around
as far as the weight goes. I'll be using it for ceremony shots using
ambient light and the formals. It has a 6x7 film back and a 100/3.5 lens.
My testing of this camera is that the lens is SHARPER than the one I had for
my Mamiya 645. I pulled out negs and trannies from my files and did a
comparison with the lupe. Best of all, the low-speed stability of the
camera means that I can really hand-hold it slower than 1/focal length.

My primary camera though is the OM2s, Winder2, Vivitar flash (OTF
controlled), and steel 90° angle bracket. The bracket mounts the flash
directly above the lens for verticals. Lens of choice-- Tokina 35-70/2.8
AT-X. I have a 2-4 screen installed in this camera and a big rubber lens
shade on the zoom. I've learned my lesson regarding this lens and stray
lights--besides, it makes the camera look more impressive. Secondary camera
is the OM-1 with 50/1.4 and special filters. This will be used mostly for
ambient lighting and special matte effects. I will also be using the
IS-3/G-40 system for my backup shots of the recessional and other critical
actions. Anything really critical I like to have on two rolls of film shot
by two different cameras.

For the indoor formals (the boring ones), I'll be using a couple studio
strobes and an umbrella for when I'm feeling cocky. The challenge will be
to keep the church bright enough for my tastes.

Both the Mamiya and OM2s have Bogan hex plates installed for mating to a
3021 base. The OM-1 has my "shoulder-stock" mounted for stabalizing the
camera in hand-held use. Sorry, no string-pods this time.

I was suprised about one thing--The Mamiya weighs almost exactly the same as
the OM2s outfit. I guess I won't be griping about its weight anymore. But
that steel bracket weighs as much as the camera and winder.

Film: Fuji NPH. NHG has been discontinued. Vericolor 400 will be used in
the Mamiya as NPH wasn't available in 220. Fortunately the two are closer
than mismatched batchs/formats of Vericolor.

Life was so much simpler just shooting stock. But not nearly as exciting.
