Unfortunately they just scanned hardcopies of back issues og NG instead of
going to the original slides for the images on these CD ROMs, which makes
the quality something to be desired. Still, perhaps a quick way to search
the entire set of NG (including advertisements) and then find the hardcopy
you are interested in.

Speaking of National Geographic, they recently offered a 50 CD ROM set that
includes every article, photograph, map (not add in maps) AND advertisement
from every issue since issue #1. If you are interested in old ads, this may
be the collection for you. It was $179 (USA) and may be available on their
homepage still.
