I quite agree, and this had also occurred to me. However, I am trying
to get a definitive answer from Oly America on how to decipher date
codes, which should help. I have even had dreams of somehow getting
Olympus Japan to give me the breakdown of serial number vs. coating
type... but I don't think it will happen.
