The real problem with your camera was not that it was common to the OM-4,
but that they  simply couldn't fix it.  Those symptoms you describe are
classic "replace the circuit" problems, a job the average repair shop won't
undertake (with circuits costing over $120 US. and Olympus no longer
supplying the labor).
