I had a similar problem with my OM4. I bought it used from ALT
Camera Exchange in Toronto for $450. A while (maybe six months?) after I
bought it, the mirror would lock up during exposure and the camera would
make funny (electronic?) noises. This problem was intermittent but
annoying. Although ALT has a one year warranty(!) on their used
equipment, I had moved out to Vancouver so I waited until a trip home
to bring it in to them. Not having a back-up body I bought a mint OM-1n.

A month later the Camera was shipped to me (and by this time the
warranty was up) and I soon discovered that the problem was not fixed. I
shipped it back with a letter saying that I was not satisfied with the
camera and wanted either my money back or a credit towards future
purchases. Suprisingly they sent me a check for the full amount I had
paid!
Needless to say that I won't hesitate to give them my business
in the future. This is how dealers should endeavour to make and keep
loyal customers. It seems to me though, that the OM4's are quite prone
to problems...which is too bad as they're the best camera (IMO) ever
made.
