I hope you took the batteries out of the camera immediately!
I hope you wiped off the exposed parts of the camera with a damp
cloth moistened with distilled water. 

Don't use alcohol on the camera lens! (it wipes out the coatings)

Try using the purest deionized water that you can find (UW has it).

I live in constant fear of doing likewise with my OM-2S.  I often go
aboard boats with my camera and flash.  I worry about catching a rogue
wave when trying to take pictures of dolphins riding the bow wave.

I have contemplated purchasing an EWA-marine "plastic bag type" camera
case.  I do use a Pelican brand water proof camera storage box when I'm
not using the camera.
