John opened the door to a question that I was meaning to ask.

It is time to replace the batteries in my OM camera. Usually,
I just go down to any store and pick up a couple of SR44
equivalents they have in stock and pop them into my camera.
But this time, I looked at the Olympus FAQ that Lee Hawkins
maintains (Thanks, Lee. And for the sake of the new comers to
this list, the FAQ is at:
    www.astro.wellesley.edu/lhawkins/photo/olympus.faq
) and noticed the following:

ANSI Spec. 1131SO 1107SOP
IEC Spec. SR44 SR44
Chemistry AgO AgO

Duracell D357 MS76
Eveready 357 EPX76
Maxell SR44W SR44P
Rayovac 357 RS76
Varta V357 V76PX

So it seems there are two distinct types of "SR44" batteries,
those of the *357 variety and those of the *76 variety. I've
never paid too much attention to that before, as they are all
SR44 equivalents.

My question is: Is there any difference between the *357
variety and the *76 variety? Or should I continue to just
get whatever kind is available and ignore the type. Given
that there are two distinct ANSI spec's listed, there must
be some differences between the two varieties. Does one
perform better than the other in an Olympus camera? Thanks.
        -Dan

Note: I am only talking about the SR44 Silver Oxide batteries,
NOT the LR44 Alkaline, so let's not get into the SR44 vs. LR44
discussion again. Thank you.
