What piqued my interest was the last sentence. I too have a perfectly fine
2X teleconverter that is optically matched to my 300mm telephoto. I find
its best use is a paper weight. The prime lens delivers sharp images with
excellent contrast, even in poor conditions. With the converter, images
seem soft and flat. I've gone as far as to do controlled comparisions with
a tripod. The 2X just doesn't cut it. Has anyone used a teleconverter/lens
combination that works??
