Bogen has a Telephoto Lens Support (Model # 3420) that will do the job of
supporting a long and heavy lens mounted on your OM. It consists of an
adjustable (for length) bracket that has a Q/R swivel head on the camera body
end and a rubber padded V-shaped riser and a strap on the other end to support
the lens. The bracket is drilled and tapped for standard 1/4, and 3/8 inch
tripod mounting screws along the bottom so the bracket with camera and lens
attached can be balanced on the tripod.

It is a very solid and stable platform, but not suited to fast
focusing/zooming because the lens is resting with it's weight generally on the
focusing/zoom collar. It is also expensive (about $60 + retail), but It does
do the job it was designed for IMHO.
