I had issues with images that looked OK in Studio, but had bad artifacts when
returned to Photoshop. I submitted a bug report but I don't think it was ever
fixed.

Yes, I still use it and it is still fun. Just have to work harder to smooth out
the roughness. Larger image files have more problems. One feature I overlooked
that has helped me with Topaz Labs impression filter when using thin brushes
that leave a lot of white space. If you go to the bottom of that filter and
expand texture, set Background Type to Original. That will fill in color from
the original image vs just a solid color (eg. white).

I learned about it from youtube "The Joy of Editing with Dave Kelly". One of
his TK Friday episodes. He periodically does a Topaz Studio episode.

Here, is his latest one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drYBjvD3DeI
he shows that change to impression at about 3:35. Probably the best hint I have
seen for Topaz studio as I use the impression filter a lot. Further into the
video, around 11:30, he shows another interesting use of topaz remix filter
I've seen him use before. He does a remix that looks terrible, but changes the
blend mode to Multiply.

Anyway, some food for experimenting.

I have not tried Snap Art. Maybe I should.

Topaz has a remix filter with selectable images. Photoshop now has a similar
feature and you can even load your own images to use for the remix source image.

Dave Kelly also has several on Topaz Photo AI with the latest one on version
2.1.2.

Which can now select multiple images in Photo AI.
