Generally true, Mike, and one of the nicest things about them, but not in this particular case. And the Tokina is a faster or even at all but the very end, where it lags by only 1/4 stop. The Zuiko's best feature, other than its name, is the built-in lens hood.

Jeff, I don't have a lens hood for mine. Do you have the model number? Anybody know of one for sale?

I don't have the Zuiko, but here is a comparison of measurements of my Tokina vs. published specs for the Zuiko.

               Zuiko Tokina AT-X
Speed f5 f4-5.6
Focal Length 50-250 50-250
Length Min 140 146
Max Diameter 72 67
Weight 780 680
Filter size 55 55
Close focus 1.8(1.53@250) 1.8m
Max. Macro 1:5.8 1:1.4

Zuikos are also invariably significantly smaller and lighter than an
equivalent off brand. And the other name brands too. It's what attracted
me to OM in the first place.

Interesting in that the Tokina AT-X 50-250 that I have is approximately
the thickness of a lens cap longer than the Zuiko and both use 55mm lens
caps. The zoom/focus ring of the Zuiko does appear slightly fatter and
the Zuiko does seem heavier. I would be hard pressed to describe one as
smaller than the other though.
