My wife and I spent last week visiting our son in El Cerrito, north of San
Francisco. He and his wife have recently (end of May) produced our first
grandchild, and I realised that if we did not go to see him during the August
hiatus, I would not be able to travel there until December due to lots of work
and many trips planned for the autumn. So we quickly found flights, booked a
hotel walking distance from our son’s place, and flew over to San Francisco. I
did not get in touch with any of the Bay Area list members (as opposed to last
year, when I had the great pleasure of meeting Moose) because of the short time
we had in CA this time.
The main purpose of the trip was to visit the family, so there are many
baby/cat/dog photos, but we also did a reasonable amount of sight-seeing,
including Berkeley and San Francisco, and a drive down to the Monterrey
Peninsula to have lunch at Pebble Beach. Dedicated galleries will be coming,
but in the meantime here is my weekly blog, longer than usual this week, but
then again, it was a big week:
