We are spending a short, 5-day vacation in Croatia, based in Zagreb, and
spending part of the time touring the city and using our rental car to make day
trips. Yesterday we drove the approximately 150 km to the Plitvice Lakes
national park, Croatia’s oldest and largest. While the services and the general
organisation left a lot to be desired (poor information, confusing signs, some
facilities not working), there was nothing wrong with the natural beauty of the
place. A small gallery of 20 photos is here:

It is a nice place, and for those who want to do serious hiking, there are
routes ranging from 4 to 21 km, with significant accumulated ascent.
