I spent a couple of days in my native city Wrocław, visiting my sister and
brother-in-law, a brief surprise visit on his birthday on Monday. The new year
has started cold and wintery in much of Europe, including in Poland. At no
point during my stay did the temperature reach freezing, and much of the time
it was close to -10C. But it was also dry and quiet, no wind and no snowfall.
I spent some time walking around my sister’s neighbourhood near the Odra river,
and also I took in the Christmas market on the central square Rynek. Finally, I
visited the city’s cathedral for the first time—I have walked past it many
times, but it seems that there is always a service going on when I pass by, so
visiting is not possible. But this time I got lucky, arriving just as a Mass
had ended, so I could take advantage of the 1/2 hour break until the next
service.
A small gallery of Wrocław winter is here:

And as always, comments and critique are welcome and appreciated.
