Willie,
  Prevention is easy. Keep the humidity low where the lenses are kept. I
live in SC, so the house is air conditioned much of the year. Humidity in
the house around 25-30%. If you live in an area where AC is not common, I
suggest keeping the lenses in a cabinet with a piano heater. It heats the
air in the cabinet and drives down the humidity. Could also try a chemical
moisture absorbent.
