I have tried Deoxit and so far no luck. Neither with a short time with
vinegar. I have removed the base plate, so I think I will soak it overnight
in vinegar.
  This camera was donated with a Takumar 55/2 , a Hanimex 135/2.8 and a
Vivitar 285 flash. Lenses and flash work fine. Also two blister packs of
Varta PX400 batteries. Now, if I can just get that battery cover out...
