Dr. Flash would have reminded me that TTL metering for focus bracketing is not
the way to go due to potential inconsistencies of the metering. The manual
for the R2 Nano is very vague but has a feature called "TCM" which is TTL
convert to manual. The switch to turn it on is a bit buried in teh menu and
the MF-12 macro flashes are not listed as an option. I turned it on and chose
a low powered flash and then had to set the cam to non zero recharge time---0.1
sec. I took the TTL shot and turned the nano to manual and Voilà the metering
was OK. I then turned on the focus bracket and it worked OK. It is a bit slow
(on the cusp of too slow to use) and I wonder if would be better on the OM-1
Mk2. Another option is to do the same TTL metering, convert to manual and use
the sequential shutter with all mechanical at 5 fps. The bracket would be by
moving the cam but max sync speed would go from 1/100 for the e-shutter used by
focus bracket to 1/250. I could find no real directions for this or tutorials
that instructed on the MF-12 in this age YouTube for everything. Of course, an
off axis high quality LED would be simpler. Never stopped me. ;-)
Flashing away, Mike
