According to that page, an estimated 52,000 M-1s were made from 1971 until about February 1973. That 1973 date might
mean some overlap with 1972 production of the first OM-1's (different models for different parts of the world, while
the dispute with Leica worked itself out?) so black models are quite possible. The page also lists what "M-SYSTEM"
lenses were made, and says the 55mm f/1.2 had about 1,200 copies, so the auctioned camera is quite plausible as
genuine. A search on eBay today (June 28th) shows several M-1's, though only chrome ones, some with matching
"M-SYSTEM" lenses, though I only noticed 50mm 1.8s and one wide angle (I believe 28mm). Most of the cameras were
located in Japan.
BTW, go up one notch to http://olympus.dementix.org <http://olympus.dementix.org/M-1/> and you find the e-SIF page, a
web rendering of the Olympus Sales Information File that Olympus salespeople evidently carried, which lists the entire
range of OM gear made. It was an invaluable resource, back in the day. I remember buying a CD version of that file.

Subject: [OM] Fake or real black analog OLympus M1 auctioned yesterday
?
Dear Olympus afficionados,
Have you seen this (auctioned yesterday) ?:
https://www.leitz-auction.com/de/Olympus-M-1-black-paint-Sample-with-1.8-50mm/A01934
... <snip>...
All in all I am still wondering (like many other people) whether this is is a restomod or a real one built by Olympus
at that time ?
