We make the assumption, based on lots or research, that the virus doesn't live

The key word is "most" surfaces. Unfortunately the most common public surfaces that you come in contact with are hard surfaces like hand rails, door handles,

These, of course are touched only with gloves. Boxes of latex gloves usually last us ages. We happen to have just bought a new one before all this. Then there's the almost full box of heavy duty blue ones in the garage.

food containers, etc. The virus can live up to 72 hours on such places. The time ranges from 4hrs for copper, 24 hrs for cardboard to 72 hrs for hard metal. Maybe the 24hrs works for the gloves.

Doesn't matter, as it's been days since either of us went out, we have lots of gloves and it will be a few more before we need groceries and . My asparagus puttanesca tomorrow. Mmmmmm

I would use a bleach solution 4 tsp/qt. (25ml/l)

Here is the WHO recipe for hand cleaner. I have the ingredients out in the shop Gonna mix up a batch to carry in the truck..

I'll keep that in my back pocket. For the moment, we don't need anything, and when we do, we have hand sanitizer left over from travels.

We're being tough. One son is a butcher shift super in a supermarket. Good news is that he's being paid; bad is exposure. He needs more masks, which I have and he has "something" for us. No way he's coming in the house. I'll leave the stuff for him in the garage and he'll leave the stuff for us there. I'll wait a couple of days to retrieve it.

I don't envy you the complications of folks who could have been exposed coming
to stay with you.
