My son is in the tourism business in Charleston, SC. Not a good place to
be right now. He is a hotel manager and they just had to lay off or fire
80% of the staff. The horse carriage industry just called in and fired all
of the guides and drivers. The horses will go out to pasture but they are
expensive to feed and have to earn their keep. They won't. All of the
restaurants and bars have closed. A cruise ship just unloaded 3000
passengers who had not been tested or screened. This is a disaster that is
getting worse instead of better.
I had a grocery list today - mostly milk and cucumbers and salad stuff.
I'm not going. We'll eat from the freezer and basement as long as
possible. We haven't left the house and don't plan to.
I wash my re-usable bags. Anything is better than plastic. They outlawed
single-use plastic bags in Bangladesh 20 years ago. Everybody has straw or
woven bags. I brought the bags home because they are so handy and
attractive.
