Thank you.  Yes, the bears are definitely an interesting twist to the
whole plot. That and earthquakes and volcanoes... And the crime...

It's such a fascinating place to live. There is ZERO boredom here. And
I get to work for a very progressive company on unusual and rewarding
projects. We're also involved in our church here and making friends.
Karen now teaches music and that has given her renewed purpose for
putting up with the climate. (and me).

I think most people think of Alaska as being this remote, isolated
place up where it's dark and cold all the time. While that's somewhat
true, most of the population is around Anchorage, which is pretty much
like any other medium-sized city. We have everything here, and it's a
very vibrant and culturally diverse community. Honestly, there isn't
much difference between Anchorage and Des Moines, except we have
mountains and about 90 more languages spoken.

And bears. Half of the year, I DON'T go hiking behind our house.
Wouldn't be prudent.

She's heading to South Korea in a few weeks to teach English.
