I really liked that technique, because you can easily tune it to your situation.
I like to spread it real thin in the centre, then pile it up a bit on the 
edges. Or you can soften just the landscape, and have the sky crispy clear.
It also gave me something to do with my old, beaten-up skylight filters. I hate 
wasting stuff.
That used to make some unique images back in the film days. Of course, it’s a 
couple menu pulls and a mouse drag in modern image processors.
