Thanks, Chris. I also like to capture engine details.

As for this airport beacon, when I first noticed it in the early 1950s,
it was still in military configuration and alternated between a green
and a split white flash, which indicated a military airport. I have not
checked its current output.

The shot of the engine is pleasing, Jim. I like the precision of engines
and the jet engine is more exposed than piston types, I reckon. I can’t
find any reference to what is on the fin; it looks quite small for a radar,
but I suppose it could be for some sort of navigational or approach aid.
The beacon has a nickname in the USAF but I can’t remember it. In the
RAF we used to call it the Pundit and it flashed a two-letter code in Morse
to identify the airfield. I seem to remember that in the US the rotating
beacon was switched on if the airfield was operating IFR as well as at
night.

I stopped by the airport today and caught the latest addition to the

This is a 2001 Dassault Falcon 2000 which is available for charters. I'm
told it was once owned by George Clooney, before he moved up to something
larger.

Our airport has a history, since it was built as a training base during
WWII. Lots of B-24 crews trained here, along with a lot of other military
aircraft. The old airport beacon was removed when the original water tank
was demolished, and it now sits on a pole alongside the present hangars. I
thought it made a nice contrast to the much newer Bizjet.

As an engineer, I'm always interested in the details. Here is one of
the two engine pods on the Falcon, a very nice, clean installation. I'm
assuming that is a radome on top of the fin.
