Last night, we had another glorious sunset. We were getting ready for
bed and looked out the window and I immediately grabbed the E-3 and a
pair of shoes. Went outdoors to get the shot from our drive and there
were a half dozen other people out there and somebody else driving
down to get a picture too. It was drawing a "crowd". Good thing I was
still dressed. :) The challenges of living at the end of the lane.
Anyway, one of the neighbors had his can of bear spray. We now have a
problem black bear that has been making its presence known around our
houses and he went nose to nose with it a couple hours earlier. It's
been coming up on decks and looking in the windows. Good think our
kitchens are all on the upper levels. Fortunately, not everybody has
walk-out decks on the bottom level like us, otherwise there might be
more of an issue. We've been noticing that something big and heavy
has been walking in our grass.
I typically don't carry bear spray with me unless I'm hiking. Usually
a pocket pepper spray dohicky, though, because of critters both two
and four legged. I might start carrying it with me when I run outdoors
to catch a photo now. I encountered a huge pile of steaming bear poo
about 100 meters from the house on a trail, so they are close by.
