Thanks for the quick tour of some places which I once knew very well indeed.
Bryggen in Bergen has changed in character very much (since 1972), although
not greatly in appearance. Fløybanen has barely changed at all, and the view
down is the same – visible over the red umbrella is the quay where I once
awoke every Friday morning to a heady mix of smells - harbour, fish, and ….
coffee roasting. No, I wasn’t sleeping rough in a fishbox, but arriving
overnight onboard M/S Sunnhordland. And thanks to your photos, Tina, I have
learned that the ship has this past year been restored to its former glory
as a coastal steamer (but not to its original role as a submarine chaser,
built in Chicago for USN, serving also with Royal Navy as HMS Kilchrenan!).
