Hi Bill,

. . .

The GM normal range zoom only gets you to 70mm vs 200mm FF equiv with the Oly
though dof control is better on the FF.

A bit apples and oranges. Try this comparison, long zoom range 24-200/4 eq. vs huge, not as long zoom range 28-135/4 and tiny (in this company) 24-80/2.8 eq next to big 24-70/2.8. <http://j.mp/2DrWyKd>

For real long or

There is nothing that comes close to the PLeica 200-800 mm eq. for Sony FF. Easily hand holdable super reach. And, good for C-U with lots of working distance. The dragonfly I just linked to was shot @ 400 mm with an achromat C-U lens.

compact super wide, can't beat the MFT to keep the size/wt down with excellent
performance.

Yup! The e-thingie 7-14/4 is huge and heavy compared to the µ4/3 models:

Model          wt.    diam.   len.
ZD 7-14/4:     780     87     120
M.Z 7-14/2.8:  534     79     106
M.Z 7-14/4     300     70      83

You can have lighter, smaller and a stop faster or WAY lighter and smaller for
the same speed.

The sync IS with the Oly 12-100 was impressive on the E-m1-mk11 and can hand
hold focus bracketing as Moose alluded to.

For alt glass like OM the new Sonnie is just an excellent tool as can use them
as designed as far as aov with some IS at least and have AF options, or focus
peaking and mag LV on a straight adapter. The sensor stack is a bit thick and
some OM WA's will have slightly degraded corners depending on the exit pupil
etc. It is a luxury having the DR and all the megapickles for cropping. Oh,
Sonnie should have had more robust weather sealing like the Oly, provide
lossless compressed raw and fix the star eater issue with longer exposures.
They don't listen very well to their users. I was smitten by the smooth
reflections app and did not really need to lug ND filters but they nixed all
the apps-harumph.

Have to agree with Moose that they might just be complementary and not mutually
exclusive, Mike

Depends one what/how many things one wants to do. :-)
