An update, fwiw.
We clicked. It's done. OMD-EM10-II package is ordered. With two lenses:
14-42 pancake (she loves the overall size) and 40-150. And a £60 rebate.
I'm very impressed by the features and she loves the handbag-size (U.K. Or
purse-size - U.S.)

Good, I hope she enjoys them!

If by pancake, you mean the 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 EZ, it's an interesting and quirky little lens. <https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1026122-REG/olympus_v314070bu000_14_42mm_f_3_5_5_6_ez_lens.html>

It's a 'power' lens, which means when you turn the camera on, it extends on its own, unlike the regular 14-42, where you twist the zoom ring to extend it. It can be a bit unnerving the first time, if not expected.

It doesn't have a usual zoom ring. Twisting the ring is much like the zoom tabs on P&S cameras, switches that control powered zooming direction. I think it's two speed, but on that short zoom range, doesn't make much difference.

Odd, but on balance, I prefer it to the regular 14-42, where collapsing the lens requires sliding a fiddly release. Turn the camera off, and it 'pancakes' immediately.

What's cool, for handbags, etc., is the automatic lens cap and semi hood. It screws onto the filter threads, then when the lens extends, it opens up, then closes when the lens collapses. Brings the convenience of those blinds on P&S zooms. I have the Oly one (which actually lives on the Panny 12-32 on my Oly Air-01.) I see JJC now makes one, for half the Oly price. <https://www.amazon.com/JJC-Z-O14-42-Self-retaining-Olympus-M-ZUIKO/dp/B00R5Z0PQC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499639122&sr=8-1&keywords=JJC+Z-O14-42+Auto+Lens+Cap+for+Olympus+M.ZUIKO+DIGITAL+ED+14-42mm+f%2F3.5-5.6>
