| Chris, I would respond that the B&W conversion does indeed add more than a 
dollop of drama, but it changes a happy light hearted image into a big pot 
of soap opera drama that wasn't there. It stinks of trying to make an image 
into something else, like some of the photoshop/no photoshop discussions.

Hmmm...  There isn't much range of colour, and adjusting the gamma, 
brightness, etc. really doesn't offer much improvement.  The B&W, however, 
shows the texture of the rough wood much better, giving the photo a deep 
rustic appearance. 
    Overall, I'd say the B&W image is more dramatic.
