That "reasonable" cost of living requirement is _very_ tough. Only the 
weird places are left because no one wants to live there. However factor 
in the salary and not just monetary bennies and maybe consider the 
PacNW. Especially at the periphery of the major urban centers of 
Vancouver/Victoria, Seatle/Tacoma/Everett and Greater Portland. Lots of 
tele-commute going on. Lots of innovation. Property values are soaring 
but still cheaper than the Bay area and other non-weird major metro 
areas. Major price increases are in the core areas.
