Interesting. You, and the wedding, may be starting a new trend. Or, returning to the olden days. :-)

Part one, because I might have more nonsense to spit out on another topic.

Anyway, this was a very interesting wedding, to say the least. Half
the bridesmaids were male and half the groomsmen were female. Best man
was female. Given the rainbow color theme, you could have assumed that
this was a gay wedding, but it was not. At least, I don't think it
was. Definitely unique, though. Regardless, theyz payz their moneyz, I
shootz their weddingz. Doesn't matter to me as long as the check
clears.

So, to my topic. For this wedding, I shot a total of four rolls of
Kodak Portra 400 35mm film in the OM-4Ts. One roll with the 35-80/2.8
zoom and three rolls with the 28/2, 50/1.4 and 100/2. With the
exception of a few shots with the Panasonic DMC-L1, everything else
was shot with the E-3.

What was odd is that how I normally work in mixed formats like this is
that I primarily shoot digital and augment special shots with film.
But for this one, I shot both side-by-side throughout the day. I
always made sure I got everything on digital, but I also made sure
that I got the complete story captured on film too. This is what made
this so different for me.

Here is what happened. I shot less digital.

Seriously.

Instead of "spray and pray" which is what I've devolved into, I was
actually shooting the digital camera like the film camera. While I
still did shoot much more with the digital camera than the film
camera, it was a fraction of what I normally do. I haven't downloaded
and counted yet, but I think I'm around 600 digital images for the
day. Add the 150 film images.

This is back to what I was doing for weddings a dozen years ago.
Somewhere along the line, I started shooting more and more and more
and more... One recent wedding was about 3000 images. Now that's nuts.

So, if I needed to shoot a film wedding, again, to slow me back down,
I think it is worth it. Customer paid extra for it, so all the better.

It is time to buy a fast lens for the E-3, though.
