Back in the fall of 1994, when I already knew that we would be moving to
Belgium the following spring, I wanted to make sure that my then 5-year old son
had the quintessential American father-son experience before we left, and I
took him to a Phillies game (we lived in Lawrenceville, NJ at the time, so
Philadelphia was the closest city with an MLB team). Here is one of my pictures

Last night, with my son now 26 and living here in the US, we repeated the
exercise. Sadly, Veterans Stadium is no more, replaced by something named after
a bank, but the Phillies are still the Phillies. They played the Blue Jays and
lost 8-5, mainly due to lousy pitching and fielding, but that was almost
secondary to the overall experience.
