Actually, except for parts that got washed out in the major storms we had
last April, you can ride the whole towpath from Joliet, IL to LaSalle. It's
been designated a heritage corridor. Sadly, the DNR doesn't seem to be in
any hurry to repair the aqueduct that was damaged in the flooding, so that
whole section of the canal is now dry.
