I'm reminded of "Bench Bob" and his medium-format digital backs,
Leicas and his Canons. Looking through his on-line images, I could
figure out what camera was used for almost all of the images. Without
a comparative, the Canons produced excellent results. But when
compared to the Leica and MFDB images, they appeared off. No amount of
calibration would make them look like anything different. I think that
CH Ling would agree.

It all depends on what you want to achieve - the right tool for the right job was part of an earlier thread this week. For instance I'm left untouched by most of the images I see from the latest Leicas. The Monochrome above all; way too clinical; the results look like an operation theater or an Audi interior ...
A good friend of mine used an M8 for years and I loved what he shared.
He's been using an M9 for a while and his photographs have lost part of their soul, go figure.

But I love Bob's benches - he uses the right tools for the right job.
