Look up "Coracles' on Wilkipedia. The round / oval flat bottomed
boat is a traditional Welsh river fishing craft. Amongst its advantages is the
very shallow draught and the extreme portability, easily carried by one person.

The older ones are made of wood, but the newer ones are plastic. Round did
not make sense to me. I can't imagine a reason for making them round!
