Both versions seem to my eye to suffer from the flat look CH commented on recently. I'm not sure of the cause, but
there's certainly a lack of local/internal contrast and, in the color one, saturation.
More pronounced, to my eye, in the B&W, but that's likely just because in B&W I am used to tonal control providing most
of the interest.
Not saying this is 'right', but hope it illustrates what I'm saying.
