Probably because it's the one he's got in his bag.
I think he's sponsored by Lee Filters and they make a 'Big Stopper' (10
stops) and recently a smaller (3 stop) one that they call (no, really?) the
Little Stopper.

btw (pedant alert)  - the other is a GRADUATED ND filter not a VARIABLE.
