I wish you luck. I tried that with my old favorite tiny VAIO laptop (98SE), in
an effort to make it useful again.
I tried a lot of different things, but couldn't get it to recognize the ersatz
SSD to boot from it. As I recall, I even
tried two different flash card to IDE holders and various CF cards, a simple
DOS boot loader, etc. Other IDE controllers
could recognize and read/write, but the little Sony wouldn't boot.
