Tom used to do some engineering work for the tobacco companies in
Winston-Salem. He said smoking was practically required of their employees
and every meeting had free packages of cigarettes on the table and ashtrays
at every place.
Thank goodness, those days are mostly gone. Smoking is frowned on in
almost all public places now.
