I thought so as well, seeing that they were small, green and some seemed
to have a papery skin. Out of curiosity I did a little Googling; they are a
small tropical fruit that are widely grown over Central and South America.
Sour when green but sweet when yellow. Frequently used in baking and for
flavored beverages particularly adult beverages. Goes by slightly different
name depending on country: nanche, nanchite, etc.
