Agreed. The 35-80/2.8 is a bit less well balanced on an OM body unless
you have a winder or motordrive installed. However, with a motordrive,
that combination is about as comfy as they come. VERY well balanced.
On the other hand, a 50/1.8 on a MD2 equipped OM body almost falls
backwards. The 28/2 on an OM body is about as front heavy as I like.

To Moose's point, I am also a left-handed support the camera person.
It really is different. The grip shape of the typical DSLR encourages
the user to support and hold the camera with mostly the right hand and
the left hand becomes guide and focus. Not everybody does this, of
course, but it seems pretty typical for a DSLR user to have the left
hand palm down. I prefer to have left-hand palm up which rests the
camera in the heal of the heand and the thumb and middle finger fall
to the focus ring. Sometimes the index finger is on the focus ring and
the middle finger is on the zoom ring. (or focus and aperture rings if
your lens is so equipped). When a camera-lens combination is well
balanced, there is little pressure on the fingers to hold up the lens.
The OM/35-80 combination is one where you can't as easily balance the
weight on the heal of the palm while letting the fingers just coast.
The lens weighs down heavily on the fingers.

In my experience, the E-Px bodies with the m43 primes are about
perfect in this regard. Something very odd about the bottom edge of
the E-M5 because it doesn't feel quite the same, but that may be
because my right hand is tilted back too much to accomodate the
cramped position of the shutter-release.

Huh? Somebody call my name?

Maybe so. But Canon has been courting me.
