Your story is kinda similar to my own regarding the PanaLeica 14-50
lens for my DMC-L1. It developed the jammed zoom problem and I took it
upon myself to attempt repair. I succeeded the first time. But the
second failure, which involved something in the rear-half of the lens,
got the best of me. It's a parts paperweight now.

One thing I learned out of this exercise is just how poorly those
Panasonic lenses are built and I'm rather loath to ever buy another
one.
