I stuck that April 31 date out there ages ago and it's taken forever
for anybody to catch it. I was wondering how long it was going to
take. Yes, I knew what I was doing--this time.

The ditty you mention totally didn't work for me. My brain is unable
to lock in on things like that. No visual component. Years later, I
learned the knuckle-bump thingy and have been fine ever since.
