I'm pretty entertained by a couple of news stories making the rounds here today:
1. The Turtle.
"An eastern Iowa tortoise originally thought to be stolen - then
returned - was only hiding." The narrative that the media picked up on
and made a huge deal out of was that this rare turtle was stolen from
the National Mississippi River museum and Aquarium in Dubuque, Iowa.
Unfortunately, in this case fiction influenced the truth. It has since
been found in an elevator at the facility. Uh huh. OK, so here is the
rest of the story:
"An employee discovered Cashew [the turtle] Thursday morning but not
wanting to cause the museum embarrassment over the tortoise not being
stolen, put Cashew in the elevator where she would be quickly
discovered instead of telling someone what had really happened."
2. Target Apologizes
"Target is apologizing for describing the color of a plus-size dress
as 'manatee gray'. The label for the same color dress in smaller sizes
said 'dark heather gray'".
