With Leicas, the debate has always been whether or not to trim modern film 
leaders to the early 35mm configuration.  With the early Barnack 
configuration, up through the popular IIIf, the back did not open, so all 
film loading had to be done from the bottom.

Personally, I use a template and a small knife to get the old, familiar 
shape.  I guess this is the same as formatting. ;~)
