The EZO battery I'm using
<http://www.amazon.com/EZOPower-Olympus-Full-Decoded-Rechargeable-E-M5/dp/B00A743A06/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359991687&sr=8-1&keywords=ezo+olympus>

certainly charges properly in the Oly charger and is stated to also show
charge level in the camera. I can't verify that part yet since I never
looked at the battery level before it died and I apparently had the
charge warning level set too low to cause early complaints. I'll have
to set it back to the 0 (default) level. Then I'll have to make a note
of how many shots I've taken before the warning comes on.

The EZO is rated at 17% less than the Oly. In fact, I got about 30%
less but I don't think that's dishonesty on the part of EZO. I think
it's a difference in how I was using the camera. The first 100 shots
were made with the Oly battery and were taken over several days in short
bursts of activity with the camera being turned off frequently in
between. When making the 70 shots with the EZO before it died the first
20 were done similar to the first 100. But the next 50 were made over a
period of about 1 hour or an average of almost 1/minute. The camera was
off for some short periods but was mostly on during that hour.

I carry the camera the same as you. On a strap around my neck with the
camera against me. Since I also have the LCD/EVF on auto the LCD should
be off most of the time. But perhaps when I'm wandering around looking
for shots I tend to carry it in my hand more than I realize. I'll have
to reset the display to EVF only (except when LCD required) and see if
that makes a big difference.

I'm gradually getting more familiar with the camera but still find
certain things problematic. I'm a left-eyed shooter and am usually
either shooting in aperture preferred or manual modes. I find the front
control dial easy to use but the rear control dial is hard to reach with
the bridge of my nose in the way. I also misjudge where it is and tend
not to reach far enough. I have the focus set on the fn2 button (rather
than fn1 where I wanted it) and early on had problems pressing the
shutter release rather than fn2. But yesterday I was finding fn2 fairly
well and never took an unintended shot. :-)

I've been hoping that perhaps the first charge of a battery might not
fully top it off and that charge levels will increase. However that's
likely wishful thinking. I may have to order some more of these EZOs.
