Who knows the minds behind that one. At this point it really doesn't matter
very much. A zoom lens of that range is about perfect to me, but the F4
aspect totally defeats the purpose of it. This isn't a lens intended for
the landscapists, it's a lens intended for the event photographer who needs
a lens centering around 35mm with a bunch of flexibility on either side. As
it isn't an F2.8, this forces the lens into the neither fish/fowl category.

I offered my NEXT off-spring. As that won't happen without additional
parts, I think I'm pretty confident that won't happen. So, it is more of a
novelty thing.

Olympus really did get it right in the E-system with the 11-22. That lens
is almost perfect for this application.
