I just paid USD2.10 per litre for 95 octane gasoline here (in Inverness,
Scotland)
For diesel generally add 14 US cents per litre, so - USD8.00 per US gal for
gasoline and USD 8.50 per US gal for diesel
But you may have been talking Avgas, which is about 50% more expensive than
Mogas (although with much more variation in price).
I doubt that it makes you feel any less worse!

All this talk about the J-3 Cub takes me back to when I could rent an
Aeronca 7AC for just $12 an hour wet on wheels or skis. Now we have $5/gal
gas in Los Angeles and it's not going to get any better soon. We're at
roughly $3.55 here in Phoenix, which is going to really impact my spring
wildflower expeditions.
