    I had to use Irfanview a few years ago to convert a large number of
scanned documents from an otherwise unreadable format into something that
could be edited.  It was an obscure Soviet textbook on a certain form of
antenna.  A Cuban broadcast engineer I knew had once owned a copy and we
were able to put the book back together and then into PDF format.
