Who needs the porta-pot ?

All you need is soft ground and a shovel with a six foot long shaft :-)

Oh, I agree with you, entirely. It's convincing SWMBO on the math. :)

Actually, it will probably be pretty easy. The porta-pot won't fit in
the Prius. Without it, SHE won't be a happy camper. Then there are
things like the camping chairs, gazebo, dual tents (so the girls have
their own space), sleeping bags, cooking gear, deep-cycle marine
battery for electricity, laptop computer, cooler, a couple changes of
clothes, books, etc., etc...

Mileage isn't that bad. Fully loaded down to the point where the
suspension is bound, we get about 19 MPG on the intestate with the
Jeep, and about 43 with the Prius under equivalent conditions. If the
Prius can't coast it doesn't do too well. If you have a headwind, it's
also curtains on the mileage. Tailwind on secondary highways with
rolling hills, the Prius will do as much as 60 MPG. But that's a
pretty narrow condition.

What we would like to do is get one of those off-road pop-up campers.
That would deload a lot from the Jeep. They also have heaters...
