I like photos of fog as well, but for me the fog has to add to the subject, 
rather than to be the subject.

I'd also argue that some fog is near grey and doesn't need exposure 
compensation in the same way as snow normally does.  If it's overcast as well 
as foggy, for instance, and I suggest that Nathan's was like that.
